Artist Statement

My name is Delaney Dyer. I am 13 years old and I attend Sartell Middle School. My mentor this session of PV was Matt Hebert. Matt has taught me many new things about art, painting and God. He hosts a Home Church called Eastside Love and my family attends weekly, so I've learned many new things about God and I’ve been able to understand the Bible better. One of my best friends is Sophie Hebert, Matt's daughter, so I’ve been able to get to know his family pretty well too. For my first session of PV I decided to make a painting about God's beautiful creation and the wonderful Earth we all live on.

When you look at my painting you can see many bright colors representing all the different colors the Earth has on it. You can also see light shining down from the trees. I think this scenery of many different colors and light shining through the trees is absolutely beautiful. That is why I decided to name my painting A Walk Through His Creation. I also love painting with thick paint so that is why I used acrylic paint. Through the 13 years of my life I have experienced many miracles from God.

I wanted to show how much I appreciate what God has done in my life. He has given me a great family, many deep friendships, and a great education. I made this painting to represent all the miracles that God has done for me and the beautiful Earth He made. I want to thank all of the wonderful people in this program for helping me become stronger, braver, and happier. I also want to thank Matt for making this all possible and making every Tuesday night a wonderful time.
