Hello, my name is Haskell and I started working on my project thinking it would be a sail boat. As I was working on the project I remembered hearing about a part of the ocean near the equator where there is often no wind. When ships would sail through they would get stuck there without any wind for days, if not weeks, and these were called the doldrums. They would have to come up with a way to get through them, and usually their solution would be power. They couldn’t just stand around idlily and hope they could get swept up by wind again. In this time, it’s easy to get caught up in the lulls, the doldrums, of life and just hope something comes along to carry you all the way through. One needs to put effort or power to get through the stillness of everyday life. I have for a long time been drifting like a sailboat with no wind, but I need to start putting power into my life.

I’m thankful to my dad who helped me through a lot of the struggles of this project and encouraging me to continue, and I thank the book “the Good Shepherd” for giving me the idea of a boat in the first place.
