Artist Statement

My name is Leanna Murphy and this was my first time being a Portable Vision mentor. This piece is really special to me because it's meaning came from a really deep passion of mine. I value community and I am deeply moved by knowing people and walking alongside them. After many years of learning and unlearning how to love and honor people well, my heart beats for the truth that people are not projects and shouldn't be treated in that manner. People do not need me to fix them by my strength, but to pursue love and be cared for authentically. There is freedom in walking in this form of humility. I chose this media because it is something I really enjoy, but it has also stretched me to pay attention to detail. I have been so blessed by PV and all the people that make it special. This has broken boxes that I have put God in and has allowed me to grow in a new understanding of the Church. I have loved spending time with each person and witnessing them boldly walk in their identity each week. It has been an honor. I am filled with gratitude.
