Artist Statement

My full name is Alexander Lee Snyder but I’m mostly referred to as just Xander. I’m 17 and I eat, sleep, and do school at home. My mentor’s name is Paul Burris and he’s helped me a lot this session with putting my characters in some story. My piece is that odd-looking comic named “Idiocy - A Random Idiotic Short Story”. In order to make this piece, I used your average pencil to sketch the outlines of the drawing then I inked it down with a pen like the madlad that I am and lastly I threw in some of that scarce color pencil as the cherry on top of that comic.

I had this idea for Idiocy a while ago but only recently did I start to work on the comic. I decided to not put much thought into the story of Idiocy and just make it up as I go. Although most of what you see was made up on the spot, I like to think a lot, so parts of the comic has some thought behind it. As a matter of fact, the entire beginning of the comic was made just so I could put some context behind a bomb defuse joke I wanted to put in the comic.

I’d like to thank Paul for being patient with me and helping me through my thought process even though sometimes I probably made things hard. I would also like to thank David, who probably doesn’t know it, but he helped me come up with some things when he would come to say hi. Both Sams, who happened to be in the same area as me, helped a lot just by letting me see their pieces and talking with them about them. Also Evan for reading my character ”files”.
