Artist Statement

My name is Elijah Tweten. I live in Becker, Minnesota and I’m 15 years old. My main mentor is Paul Burris.

Originally, I was going to do a song or instrumental but I moved to cartoons, then acrylics before finally picking photography. I took this picture of my cat who was in the perfect position and looking at the camera. After I took this shot, I went onto my computer and I edited the picture like crazy. I chose photography because I had been doing it in this style for a while and it struck me as something original.

Over the course of PV, I have felt that my connection with God has grown more personal and closer especially since it’s been online. Even though the Zoom meetings got glitchy at times, hearing the life stories for the first time opened up my mind set about compassion for others and the view-points of another’s life.

I’d like to thank my mentors for being willing to go along with my inability to make up my mind about what I wanted to do for a project.
